Reserves: Arsenal 1-4 VILLA

Kevin MacDonald's men were in phenomenal form as they comfortably saw off the challenge of Arsenal.

Marc Albrighton and Zoltan Stieber both bagged a brace as they put the Gunners to the sword at Barnet FC.

Mark Randall scored Arsenal's consolation but the night ended badly for the hosts with Henri Lansbury red carded in injury time for a horror tackle on American defender Eric Lichaj.

Travelling supporters were treated to scintillating football from the second string as they scored at will.

The emphatic victory is Villa's third in three games, having already beaten Stoke and Spurs in reserve action.

Albrighton opened the scoring with a shot that crept inside the near post on three minutes.

Frimpong's 30-yard low drive was well saved by Parish on five.

Wing wizard Albrighton doubled Villa's lead on 11, with an even better finish than his first goal. He latched on to a good throughball from Herd before firing past Mannone.

Stieber's free-kick on 15 flew marginally over the bar from a very good position 15 yards out.

Wilshere's free-kick fell to Simpson but the Arsenal forward was crowded out by the Villa defence on 25.

Stieber's fierce drive was blocked two minutes later.

Simpson put through a good ball for Wilshere on 28 but Lichaj did brilliantly to block as the forward looked set to finish.

Stieber drilled home Villa's third on 30 after a great run by Albrighton.

The two-goal hero nearly made it a hat-trick but his shot on 36 flew just over the bar.

Mannone did brilliantly to save from Delfouneso's low drive from inside the box on 42.

Fonte was denied by Parish as the young goalkeeper dived low to deny the Arsenal striker on 43.

Clark was booked on 48 for a lunge on Simpson.

Weimann's looped header was well saved by Mannone on 55 and a minute later, Randall's 20-yard strike flew past Parish in the Villa goal to give Arsenal some hope.

Freeman and Murphy replaced Wilshere and Fonte on 61.

Stieber's left-footed drive from 30 yards out flew past Mannone on 65 to make it a quartet of quality goals for Villa.

Bannan hit the inside of the bar on 69 with the keeper beaten but not the woodwork as Villa looked to further increase their lead.

Weimann was replaced by youth hot-shot Collins on 76. For the home side, Ayling came on for Cruise on 80.

Lichaj was scythed down on 90 by Lansbury and the midfielder was immediately red carded.
