Ashley Young is ready to commit himself to a new Villa deal and this evening reflected: "This is a fantastic club. I am delighted I'm playing here."

John Carew and Gabby Agbonlahor penned new deals last week and Martin O'Neill is now keen to reward Young with a new contract.

Young has welcomed that news and reflected: "What about my own contract situation? I am just happy playing my football. But, if anything like that comes about, I'll be delighted.

"I've got this season and two more years left. I'm happy, really happy with how things are going, happy here at Aston Villa.

"I am just looking to build on the performances of last season during this season and I'm glad we got off to a good start at the weekend against Manchester City.

"Would I like to commit to a new contract? Of course. It is a fantastic club. I am delighted I'm playing here."
