Villa sank FA Youth Cup winners Manchester City to clinch the FA Premier Academy League crown.

The Young Lions earned the tag of the best Academy side in the country thanks to goals from James Collins and Chris Herd.

And, after a nervy opening 10 minutes, Villa richly deserved this play-off final victory.

Mak tested Parish with a low angled drive inside the first minute but the Villa keeper was equal to the challenge.

Moments later Albrighton sent over a dangerous cross from the right but Mee cleared for the visitors.

Ball dragged a low right-foot effort across the face of Villa's six-yard box on five.

Albrighton then cut in from the right but was unable to find Forrester at the far post with a left-foot cross.

Parish brilliantly denied Tutte on eight, somehow tipping a rising drive from the edge of the box over the bar.

Trippier curled a right-foot free-kick into the Villa wall three minutes later as the visitors continued to have the better of the early action.

McGivern slid in to deny Delfouneso on the edge of the box on 17 as Villa started to settle.

Albrighton's cross cum shot flashed across the City six-yard box a minute later after good work in the middle from Bannan.

Collins opened the scoring for Villa on 23, pouncing on a slip from central defender Mee and slotting calmly past Hartley in the City goal.

Hartley did well to pluck Albrighton's right-wing cross out of the air under pressure from Delfouneso a minute later.

Delfouneso fired high into the Holte End from the edge of the box on 28 as he was fed by Albrighton.

Collins volleyed straight at Hartley on 32 as he met Albrighton's inviting right-wing centre.

Herd doubled Villa's lead on 34 sending an unstoppable rising shot past Hartley as he exchanged passes with Collins on the edge of the box.

Albrighton tried his luck from distance a minute later but Hartley was equal to a dipping effort.

Kay sent a glancing header wide of the target on 41 as he met a corner from the right.

Bannan's left-foot volley was blocked by Tutte on the edge of the box a minute before the break.

Delfouneso pounced on another slip from Mee on 45 but the striker was forced wide by Hartley and Herd's eventual shot was cleared by Trippier.

City broke immediately as Parish came off his line to deflect Mak's low effort wide for a corner.

McDermott curled a left-foot free-kick straight at Parish on 47 and the Villa keeper gathered with ease.

Delfouneso raced forward from the halfway line on 54 but was eventually crowded out on the edge of the City box.

Boyota headed over the bar a minute later as he rose to meet McGivern's cross from the left.

Herd headed wide from the back post on 57 as he met Bannan's right-wing corner.

Mee headed over the bar as he met a Poole corner from the City right on 59.

Villa skipper Clark headed wide as he met Bannan's long range free-kick from the left on 66.

Bannan prodded wide moments later as he robbed Ibrahim and exchanged passes with Delfouneso on the edge of the box.

Kay headed wide under pressure from Lowry on 70 as the visitors looked for a way back into the game.

Herd sent a weak shot straight at Hartley after a surging run on 77.

Delfouneso surged forward from the halfway line a minute later but saw his close range effort deflected wide by Kay.

Collins curled a right-foot drive wide from the edge of the box on 81.

Hartley did well to deny Delfouneso on 83, blocking a left-foot drive as the striker exchanged passes with partner Collins.

Moore rattled the Villa bar with a dipping left-foot free-kick on 86.
