Academy stars visit homeless centre ahead of B6 sponsored sleepout

Five of our academy players visited drop-in centre SIFA Fireside in Digbeth - to raise awareness of homelessness ahead of our Business Sleepout event next month.

Rushian Hepburn Murphy, Jordan Cox, Jake Humphries, Harvey Knibbs, and Kelsey Mooney all helped out at the centre and were very impressed with the facilities and services available to homeless people - and the scale of the support offered.

They volunteered - serving hot meals to over 100 homeless people.

Homelessness affects thousands of people in Birmingham, including families as well as individuals.

It's an issue affecting all kinds of people, young and old, male and female, from a wide range of backgrounds.

Villa are hosting a sponsored event, 'Business Sleepout' on Thursday April 14 where some of Birmingham's business and civic leaders are set to sleep outdoors at Villa Park.

And there's plenty of time for more people to get involved to raise funds in aid of homelessness projects across Birmingham, including SIFA Fireside.

Ravinder Masih, head of Aston Villa Foundation, said: "There are still a few weeks until the sleepout takes place, so please get involved and join other business and civic leaders at Villa Park on April 14.

"You'll help make a real difference to people in our city."
