International review: 50 caps for Hutton, goal for Ayew, win for Gestede

Brown

ALAN HUTTON earned his 50th cap for Scotland as they defeated Czech Republic 1-0 in a friendly away in Prague.

Hutton became only the 28th player in the 144-year history of Scottish international football to achieve the feat.

Ikechi Anya's breakaway goal after 10 minutes proved to be the decisive moment.

The Scots might have had a second had Hutton been awarded what looked like a clear-cut second-half penalty.

But Gordon Strachan's preparations for the World Cup qualifiers began with only a second-ever win over the Czechs.

JORDAN AYEW scored as Ghana defeated Mozambique 3-1 in African Cup of Nations qualifying.

Frank Acheampong set them on their way with the opening goal after only four minutes in their home clash.

On 56 minutes John Boye, captain in place of the injured Asamoah Gyan, doubled the lead and two minutes later Ayew made it 3-0.

Apson Manjate pulled a goal back for the visitors - but Ghana easily extended their lead at the top of Group H.

RUDY GESTEDE's Benin beat South Sudan 2-1, goals coming from West Brom forward Stephane Sessegnon on 16 minutes and Frédéric Gounongbé on 75 minutes.

South Sudan pulled one back on 89 minutes but it was too little, too late.

The victory lifts Benin to the top of Group C above Mail who play on Friday.

In the African Cup of Nations qualifying, the thirteen group winners will qualify for the finals tournament while the two runners-up among these four-team groups with the best records will also qualify.

Okore

JORES OKORE had to be content with a place on the bench as Denmark defeated Iceland 2-1 in a friendly in Herning.

Nicolai Jørgensen hit a brace for the Danes before a last-minute consolation for Iceland through Arnór Traustason.

CARLOS SANCHEZ wasn't involved as Colombia defeated Bolivia 3-2 in World Cup quaifiying in La Paz.

Real Madrid's James Rodríguez, Milan's Carlos Bacca and Monterrey's Edwin Cardona scored the vital goals for The Rock's national side.

Colombia are seventh in a league of ten teams in Round 1 of South American qualifiying.

The top four teams from each group will qualify for the finals. The fifth placed team advances to the intercontinental play-off.

Leandro Bacuna's Curacao went down 1-0 to Barbados in the shock result of the first round of matches in Caribbean Cup qualifying.

The lone goal came in the second half when Romario Harewood gave his side the lead in the 69th minute.

Curacao are bottom in a group of three after one game, with the two top teams progressing to Round 2.
