Garde: Our Young Lions can offer "good surprises" for the future

Brown

Rémi Garde believes Villa's Young Lions can offer the club "good surprises" for the future - as he continues to consider their further involvement with the first team.

Andre Green and Jordan Lyden have both seen action for the seniors while Keinan Davis has been on the bench for several games.

Garde, who watched the U21s beat Arsenal on Monday, is being careful with their development because he insists the "road is long" between youth and senior football.

But he thinks several of his starlets have a bright future in claret and blue.

In fact, he has stressed that he's already seen improvement.

He said: "It was a good game that I watched this week.

"I was very pleased with the win because everyone knows that Arsenal's youth development is good. It was good stuff from our team.

"I think some of the players are improving at the moment - the desire and what they showed in that game was very interesting.

"The road is long and the gap is important between the reserve team and Premier League football.

"But it can go very quickly if you have the right attitude with the base of talent that some of them have shown.

"They work very hard and with passion. It could be a good surprise for Aston Villa's future.

"When you are young, you are innocent. You are closer to the state when you were a child. You are on the road.

"Sometimes it's important that within a group of players, you have this feeling."
