Rémi Garde: It's a massive challenge but we won't give up
Rémi Garde knows it's now a "massive challenge" to stay up but insists that he and the players will keep striving for survival.
The manager says the players owe it to the claret and blue shirt - with all its history and heritage - to "fight until the last moment" with the final eight games of the campaign on the horizon.
Garde says he's staying strong personally as he looks to inspire a comeback.
He said: "It's still mathematically possible and until the end we will still believe.
"I would say it's a massive challenge to win enough games to be safe.
"But when you're wearing an Aston Villa shirt you have to be proud and fight until the last moment. That's what we will do.
"I love football. I hate defeats. Five defeats in a row - I am not sure I have experienced that before in my whole career.
"I am relying on myself to be strong and find the right words for the players.
"When I see that Tottenham game, I feel that the players hear what I say.
"We will now go to Swansea and try to win."
