Lyden: MacDonald still pushing me
Jordan Lyden says Kevin MacDonald is still proving to be a big influence for him as he looks for further first team chances.
Lyden has had a breakthrough campaign in claret and blue after claiming a mainstay spot in the squad.
The midfielder is eager to push on further in the coming weeks, months and years ahead - and says that MacDonald, a League Champion and FA Cup winner, is pushing him on to succeed.
He said: "Kevin coming back has been massive.
"As a young player, you see a pathway to the first team, which is really important. If you know you have a chance, it's an even bigger incentive.
"I've managed to break into the first team group, which has been great for me - and even over the past few weeks, we've seen Keinan Davis on the bench.
"That will drive the younger boys on to work even harder as they look to make it.
"Kevin is a vital link in there for us. He's always been great to work with, too, on the training field.
"He has always worked us hard. He's always been on at us, doesn't give you a moment's rest and always has had high standards. That's what you need.
"Just look at the players he has brought through in the past.
"And then there's Sid Cowans. I don't really need to say much about him - he's an idol for us all.
"He's won the European Cup, the League Championship, played for his country - he's an icon here.
"We can all look up to him and he's easy to talk to. He's been there and done it."
