Garde: We have to tap into our inner strength to succeed
Rémi Garde is confident his players will find the "inner resources and strengths" as the survival fight continues.
Garde accepts that the battle to remain in the Barclays Premier League is a very tough one indeed, with his team lying eight points from safety.
But he thinks this adversity will bring out the best in his players - and serve them well in their football careers.
He also stresses that staying up in these circumstances would be like winning a trophy.
He said: "Every player and manager has bad situations - every person in the world in fact - especially in the time we are living in.
"I don't like to complain. I like to be focused and to take the best decision for my team, my players - to give them the belief.
"It's a huge challenge - but why not do it? It would be like a trophy for us.
"In adversity - difficult moments - you can find deeply in yourself some resources and strengths that you probably ignored before.
"We are now in the position where we have to do that. All the players, myself, my staff - we have to find the strength deeply inside and exploit it.
"Ever since I arrived, the situation was not over, of course - but I knew it was not good.
"I have always had the belief that we could turn things right and in our favour before the end of the season.
"It's getting tougher and tougher every week but there is still that belief.
"In our position, we are nearly in the position where we have nothing to lose.
"Just above us, they are in a different situation because they have quite a lot to lose because they are just above the relegation zone.
"Psychologically this fact could be important for us."
