Villa Noise: Dream Team, USA support and Guzan pitches in

Villa's first XI earned the plaudits after their fantastic start to the season at Stoke - but here's the ultimate 5-a-Side claret and blue Dream Team.

This is a great image tweeted by Dan Genders - @dangenders - which shows some of the most famous claret and blue celebrities in full football mode.

Included are Saving Private Ryan star Tom Hanks as captain, Prime Minister David Cameron as goalkeeper as well as Harry Potter actor David Bradley, Duke of Cambridge Prince William and expert violinist Nigel Kennedy.

We can only presume that Martin Shaw, Ian Bell, Chris Woakes, Ozzy Osbourne, Geezer Butler and Domhnall Gleeson are on the bench!

Dream Team

Kick Magazine has backed Villa to make strides this season.

In its 'Premier League View' feature this week, the publication backs us to finish 13th in the top-flight table.

They wrote: "Paul Lambert has added some experienced players as well as Roy Keane to his coaching staff. Fingers crossed for Villa, it does the trick.

"It's a new start for Joe Cole, who will be hoping to add some experience to Villa's young squad.

"When Christian Benteke is back fit too, he will be banging in the goals once again. He's vital to Villa.

"We think Villa should have enough for a mid-table spot."

Bentekkers can rule Villa Park!

That's the verdict of Match Magazine.

The publication this week hailed Christian Benteke as one of the '50 Stars to Watch - Don't Take Your Eyes Off These Guys.'

The say Benteke has a "point to prove" and insists: "The Belgium bulldozer hit 19 league goals for Villa in 2012-13.

"But injuries slowed him down in 2013-14.

"He'll be desperate to prove he's still got the Bentekkers to rule Villa Park."

One of the most iconic moments from Villa's opening day win at Stoke was Philippe Senderos giving skipper Ron Vlaar a huge hug on the final whistle.

Fans tweeted their approval - and discussed their delight at the defensive solidity of the entire backline.

This week, Joe Cole told us that the embrace perfectly summed up the feelgood factor in camp.

Illustrator 'BadlyDrawnIcons' tweeted a really classy version of that clinch, which down really well with supporters on social media networks.

Two of our most enthusiastic USA fans got together to witness the win at Stoke.

California Lions chief Rick Leong and Detroit Lions head Michael Pearson joined forces in San Francisco's 'Mad Dog in the Fog' for a few drinks to cheer on the boys in claret and blue.

They agonised over the first half and then felt far more comfortable after Andi Weimann bagged an early goal after the break.

There were big smiles on the final whistle as the pair posed for a picture.

Later Rick, who each year sends Tom Hanks his California Lions membership card, tweeted a great picture of the various branches in North America cheering their support.

Great to see!

Brad Guzan says he's in no rush to take advice off Matt Lowton and Andreas Weimann.

Guzan this week reminisced about the moment he threw the first pitch in the Houston Astros v Miami Marlins baseball game during our tour of Texas.

He did a brilliant job of it - despite dodgy information from his claret and blue pals.

He said: "I'll stick with football to be honest.

"But things like that are exciting. We're lucky to have these opportunities. But I'm definitely sticking with what I'm good at.

"I enjoyed it though. It was great.

"There was some pressure because I knew the boys were watching from one of the boxes. They told me not to bounce it in.

"They were trying to give me pointers - but to be honest, I think they were getting mixed up between baseball and cricket!

"I didn't practice. It was natural. I just went out there and gave it a go."

Well done to several claret and blue stars, who have been raising money for MacMillan Cancer Research this week.

The likes of Ron Vlaar [video below], Christian Benteke, Juan Pablo Angel, Gary Gardner, Fabian Delph and Stiliyan Petrov have all been dunked in freezing cold water as part of the Ice Bucket Challenge.

It's simple - you just challenge someone via Facebook or Twitter to have it poured over their head in exchange for a text donation to Macmillan.

Villa aces have all taken to social media to participate - and nominate!

David Beckham, Steven Gerrard, Rory McIlroy and Britney Spears have all got involved too.
