Villa Noise: Stadium snaps, Keane banter and chatty Gardner

Roy Keane and Paul Lambert enjoyed a good bit of banter during their press conferences on Wednesday.

Keane was unveiled as assistant manager mid-afternoon before heading to a media briefing, followed by Lambert who also chatted to the collected press about the arrival of his new No.2.

One source of mischief revolved around the only competitive game they played against each other - Borussia Dortmund v Man Utd in the 1997 Champions League semi-final first-leg at the BVB Stadium.

Dortmund beat Utd 1-0 - courtesy of a ninth-minute goal from Rene Tretschok - and the German giants won by the same scoreline in the return match at Old Trafford - a game Keane missed.

When asked about the encounter, Keane said: "Dortmund were lucky that day!"

Lambert, already smiling because he knew what was coming, was quizzed about who won the midfield battle between himself and his new assistant boss - and he answered promptly: "Me!"

Villa Park

Photographer Neville Williams was handed a 'top' job this week - taking photos of majestic Villa Park from the roof of Aston Parish Church.

Williams headed to the spire and snapped away at the grand old ground, with the pictures set to take pride of place in our vast library of images.

The landscape vista was majestic - and you could see virtually the entire city centre on a lot of the shots.

Enjoy this initial image above - and we'll be showing more next week.

Roy Keane showed a sharp wit when facing questions from Pete Colley of Sky Sports in his unveiling press conference.

Keane was at his entertaining best as he fired back answers at Bodymoor Heath.

Colley said: "You're going to be busy with two jobs…" to which Keane rapidly responded: "Don't you worry about that."

Then Colley quizzed Keane about whether he believed the current World Cup was the best ever.

Our new No.2 replied: "It's been really good. I've enjoyed it. But you're obviously a lot older than me so you'll remember all the other ones."

Ron Vlaar is putting in lots of hard work in Brazil in a bid to be in tip-top shape for the quarter-finals of the World Cup as Netherlands face Costa Rica on Saturday.

But he expended energy before his end-of-season journey to the prestigious tournament.

Vlaar took part in our 'Light Chaser' challenge at Bodymoor Heath and showed good anticipatory skills, a trait he will need in abundance to see off the threat of the Central American side this weekend.

Check out the video below.

Gary Gardner was in chatty mood this week - but he said he rarely gets the chance to talk during the season.

Gardner took part in a light-hearted Q&A, which will be used on the website later this summer.

In it, he revealed he sits next to Brad Guzan and Gabby Agbonlahor in the dressing room.

He joked: "I can't get a word in edgeways!"

Ashley Westwood hopes to be a driving force in midfield this next season - and if he performs like he did in our special summer car challenge we'll all be happy.

Westwood - cheered on by good pal Matt Lowton - jumped into an inflatable vehicle in a bid to master Playstation 3 game 'Gran Turismo.'

He was joined in the hotseat by Ron Vlaar, Brad Guzan, Andi Weimann and Jores Okore at Bodymoor Heath.

You can check out all the attempts on our YouTube channel over the next couple of weeks.

Check out how Ashley did below.
