Villa Noise: Lionel Richie love, 24 return delight and Oasis shock

We will always know him as Big John Carew - and now the BBC do too.

One of BBC's flagship shows - Football Focus - had Carew as a star guest at the weekend.

But rather than 'John Carew' as the on-screen name caption, they promoted him as 'Big John Carew.'

Clearly, there is a claret and blue fan working within the sport department!

Sutherland

Ciaran Clark has two reasons to be cheerful at present - Villa beating Norwich and the upcoming return of 24.

US hit 24 - starring Kiefer Sutherland - is Clark's favourite TV programme.

As most people know, the show follows the action of Counter Terrorist Unit agent Jack Bauer.

Each 24-episode season covers 24 hours in the life of Bauer, using the real time method of narration.

Premiering in November 2001, the show spanned 192 episodes over eight seasons, with the finale broadcast in May 2010.

Fox announced in May 2013 that 24 would return as a 12-episode series titled 24: Live Another Day.

And it's fair to say Clark is over the moon.

He told AVTV in a Q&A: "I really like Kiefer. He's brilliant in it. I love 24. The new series is coming out. I can't wait for that to come out.

"Breaking Bad and Prison Break are great too. But 24 is my favourite."

Clark also admitted his favourite film of the year was American Hustle.

It stars Christian Bale and Amy Adams as two con artists who are forced by an FBI agent, Bradley Cooper, to set up an elaborate sting operation on corrupt politicians, including Jeremy Renner.

Jennifer Lawrence plays the unpredictable wife of Bale's character.

Grant Holt admits he has to get into the zone before games - because the dressing room music is so bad.

Holt told AVTV that his taste is immensely diverse, naming Wet Wet Wet, Simply Red and Drake as three artists he enjoys.

But when asked if he gets a say in pre and post-match setlists, he said: "No. I stay well out of it.

"It's horrendous. I just switch off."

Midfielder Ashley Westwood won't be a fan of the B6 tunes either, after admitting a love of Lionel Richie.

God knows what happens when he walks into the dressing room and utters the word: "Hello."

Gallagher

Grant Holt admits he was seeing stars - after accidentally barging into Liam Gallagher.

Oasis fan Holt was shopping in Harvey Nichols in London when he nearly sent frontman Gallagher flying.

After apologising, it took over a minute for Holt to realise that it was the Wonderwall, Don't Look Back in Anger and Some Might Say lead singer.

He told AVTV: "I literally bumped into him. And when I say - bumped into him - that's exactly what I mean.

"I banged into him as I walked around the corner.

"After a few seconds, I realised who it was. "I thought then 'I can't really go and stop him now.' So I bottled it."

No doubt, Gallagher would have replied: "Whatever!"

Sam Matterface was left red-faced when he was forced to follow through with a claret and blue pledge.

Highly-regarded TalkSPORT presenter, who also works for ITV Sport, promised to wear full Villa kit if "they scored three at home" against Norwich.

As we all know, Villa beat the Canaries 4-1.

Fair play to Matterface, good friends with Stan Collymore, as he snapped up the strip and wore it live on air.

Gabby Agbonlahor likes to think of himself as the king of cool - so he was less than impressed after being asked to pose for this picture.

Agbonlahor was happy to stand up straight for the Acorns Day image but he was a little reluctant to be snapped in more animated, staged pose.

Needless to say, good pal Marc Albrighton took great delight in the striker's situation.

But, good sport that he is, Agbonlahor agreed to the photograph.

Make sure you find out more about this year's Acorns Day.

About Time is one of the hit movies of the past year - and it's come to our attention that the star of the film is a huge Villa fan.

Domhnall Gleeson [right] stars as Tim, who at the age of 21, discovers he can travel in time and change what happens - and has happened in his own life.

His decision to make his world a better place by getting a girlfriend - played by multi-award-winning actress Rachel McAdams - turns out not to be as easy as you might think!

In the press junkets before the film opened, Gleeson was asked: "What do you consider your most alpha quality?"

The 30-year-old answered: "My deep love of Aston Villa!"

Irishman Gleeson - who also starred in the Harry Potter films 'Deathly Hallows Part One and Part Two' as Bill Weasley - is the son of Brendan Gleeson.

Brendan - also a claret and blue supporter - starred in Gangs of New York, In Bruges, Braveheart and Troy.
