Villa Noise: Bowery's videobomb, shirty Delph and Vlaar's tall stories
7th Nov 2013
The dynamic midfielder has already won seven man of the match votes.
But he also rivals Christian Benteke and Gabby Agbonlahor in shirt shop sales too, with 'Delph 16' flying out of official stores over the past few weeks.
Joking Paul Lambert was informed of this store stat at a Bodymoor Heath press conference, before smiling and retorting: "Did he buy them himself?"
Brad Guzan always talks of an upbeat atmosphere at Bodymoor Heath.
The USA ace is in a good mood permanently and willing to banter with staff.
Only last week, Guzan pulled me aside as I typed away at my laptop and said: "Are you working hard? Or hardly working?" before making his merry way to the canteen for lunch.
Paul Lambert admits he's not shocked by Guzan's optimistic streak.
He told reporters at a Bodymoor Heath press conference: "Guzan is positive about rain!"
Good to see a Villa star in Man City's Halloween XI.
The Etihad Stadium outfit composed a social media spooky team to commemorate the scary time of year and our League title-winning manager appeared as boss - Cauldron Saunders!
The side consisted of: Casper Schmeichel, Micah Witchards, Deadryck Booyata, Aleks Killerov, Kevin Warlock, Martin Petrovied, Ishmael Thriller, Georgi Pumpkinladzi, Owen Hargraves, Shaun Ghoster and Sergio Agwerewolf.
Saunders, by the way, was 81 this week - so happy birthday gaffer!
The big question is: can you find the Villa fan in this picture?
The game is Eintracht Frankfurt v Borussia Dortmund but there's a claret and blue tinge to the photo.
The image was sent to us via Facebook and fans on our social media channels, including Twitter, were quick to spot the enthusiastic Villa supporter.
Incredibly sad to say goodbye to Bob Williams.
Bob was in charge of the Villan Radio Station for many years but passed away earlier this week after a short illness.
Bob was always great company in claret and blue circles and never tired of a good joke to lighten the mood when you passed him in the corridors of B6.
There were a great many people at his funeral in Shushtoke and that said a lot about a gregarious guy who impacted the close-knit world he lived in.
RIP Bob - you won't be forgotten!
Ron Vlaar has told me that things are looking up for Villa - and he admits he's literally been stretching his neck to the heavens!
Vlaar has had a visitor these past few days - 7ft tall Dutch international basketball player Francisco Elson.
Vlaar said: "He's from Rotterdam and I got to know him when I was playing for Feyenoord.
"Although he doesn't support a specific team, he really loves football so he wanted to take a look around Villa Park when he came over.
"He has been here before, though, when John Carew was playing for the club. So he must have been impressed to want to come back.
"It's always good to chat with people involved in other sports and it would be good to get Francisco here for another matchday.
"The last time he watched a game here, Villa won and Carew scored! I would happily settle for something similar when Francisco comes to a game with me."
Jordan Bowery is a quiet, reserved and shy guy off the field - but his antics at the latest Villa Rockets training session didn't suggest this.
Bowery was at Stockland Green Leisure Centre with defender Ciaran Clark with the claret and blue duo helping to promote the Birmingham Disability Sports Festival.
After meeting and greeting members of the Rockets and trying out the powerchairs, Clark discussed football matters with club station AVTV.
Bowery, urged on by high-spirited members of the team, darted into shot to 'videobomb' the interview.
He did a series of impressive, difficult and speedy turns before departing to roars of approval!

The Colvin family impressed the B6 communications team this week after sending in a very sparkly picture.
Families love Fireworks Night and this one from Sutton Coldfield obviously love Villa just as much!
AVTV have been busy filming some fab festive features for your enjoyment.
The club's in-house TV channel asked Christian Benteke, Ron Vlaar, Fabian Delph and Brad Guzan to take part in a 'wrapping challenge'.
The willing quartet were timed as they attempted to envelop a garden gnome, pair of slippers and dog door stop, with the stopwatch primed and ready to go.
There was a clear winner on the day, although plenty of other claret and blue celebrities will be asked to take on the task in the coming weeks.

McGregor the Gnome loves life at Villa Park so much he's invited his family to join him here - but not for long if you get in quick.
McGregor's close clan are currently living in the Villa Stores in Villa Village and New Street but the loveable gnome is hoping fans come forward to give his relatives a home.
Get down to either shop and pick up one of his kinsman or alternatively buy online at our online store.
McGregor, of course, hit the headlines by stealing the show on the Bullring to Bullring adventure, when club journalists Paul Brown and Jack Woodward escorted the loveable fella across Europe with the team's new kit.
McGregor was spotted at Big Ben, EuroDisney, the Eiffel Tower, Carcassonne Castle as well as in various bars in Benidorm, living it up in the popular holiday hotspot on his way to the team's training HQ in Malaga.
He even accompanied the pilot in the cockpit as Villa travelled to Vienna for their away clash with Rapid.
Since then, McGregor lookalikes have flown out of the claret and blue shops.
Now he's decided to bring his other family members to B6 for a short while before they are rehomed with claret and blue fans.
There's 'fan garden gnome', 'gaffer garden gnome' and 'referee garden gnome', which all retail at £17, while our 'shirty garden gnome' comes in at £8.
If you decide to adopt one, remember to take a snap of him when you're on holiday abroad in front of some of the world's most famous landmarks.

There are some great reasons why people become fans of Aston Villa - but this would take some topping.
Stephen Hay joined the Aussie West Lions Club this week and explained the thought processes behind the decision in an email to Lions Club co-ordinator Alan Perrins.
He said: "I have been a fan of "proper" football all my life, but never actually followed any team.
"Then I found out in the last few weeks that my earliest ancestor to arrive in Australia - sentenced to 14 years transportation - arrived here in 1791 on the third fleet and was from Birmingham.
"So I had a choice, Villa or Birmingham City, I chose Villa, I am sure I made the right choice."
You did Stephen. You did.
John Stammers' big sporting passions are Aston Villa and Warwickshire and he was delighted to combine the two when he won a recent programme competition.
John, from Sutton Coldfield, won a copy of the Villa News & Record from our Capital One Cup-tie against Rotherham United - complete with a signed photo of Warwickshire's Ian Bell, the Ashes man of the series as England beat Australia this summer.
John's entry was the first drawn from those who answered that Chris Woakes was Bell's Warwickshire team-mate who made his Test debut against the Aussies at Lord's.
