Blog: Weimann/Benteke 'Just Can't Get Enough' of top chants
19th Dec 2012
I'd respectfully disagree.
There must be no better feeling than fans singing their name to a famous tune.
Gabby Agbonlahor has enjoyed such terrace tunage over the past few seasons, with supporters screaming out his name to the classic Culture Club track 'Karma Chameleon.'
Moustapha Salifou was Villa's 'Daddy Cool' as he enjoyed cult status despite not starting a single Barclays Premier League clash.
Our new Moroccan midfield ace was exulted to the might of The Clash - 'Karim El Ahmadi...Rocks the Kasbah' in pre-season.
Benteke has earned star status with supporters for his powerful forward play and glut of goals.
Weimann is a real fan favourite too, especially with our younger supporters, who love his all-action, non-stop approach - as well as his clinical striking skill in front of goal.
Supporters have opted to demonstrate their emotional attachment to the pair by turning two top songs into tune tributes.
Benteke is lauded to the anthemic White Stripes 'Seven Nation Army' while Weimann 'Just Can't Get Enough' with Depeche Mode.
Benteke and Weimann approve of the musical adulation although we can't confirm if the pair actually like their selected songs.
Benteke revealed in a programme feature that his favourite artist is Rhianna while Weimann keeps his music taste to himself.
That said, both clearly appreciate the effort fans have gone to in order to hero-worship them in hymn format.
There's a good buzz on the terraces this season, with fans really digging the club's emerging talent pool and that can only lead to more music tributes over the weeks, months and years ahead.
I'm sure supporters are busy thinking of songs for their new heroes but we thought we'd offer some well-meaning suggestions, as well as asking fans on Twitter for immediate ideas.
