Another film I've watched in the past few days has been Planet of the Apes. What a movie! It was unbelievable. It is the best film I've seen for a long, long time. It had amazing graphics - just everything about it was fantastic. I want to go back and watch it in 3D because I saw it in 2D. I'd definitely recommend it for any Villa fan who hasn't seen it yet. People go about the original version with Charlton Heston but I never got around to watching that but I do remember the Mark Wallberg one from a few years back. That was good but the new one is better - it's incredible. In terms of movies coming soon, a lot of people are talking about Cowboys vs Aliens and it's been advertised quite heavily over the past few weeks. To be honest, my favourite movie franchise is James Bond. I absolutely love those films. I watch them all the time. So for me to see James Bond doing something else? I don't like that! When you're James Bond, stick to James Bond! It's weird to see James Bond strutting around as a cowboy. It takes away the mystique and attraction of the character of 007. I'm not going to see it, just out of principle! In the music world, we've lost the immensely talented Amy Winehouse - what a tragedy! She was special. She was an unbelievable talent. I have a few of her albums, they were excellent. She was never my all-time favourite but I always thought she was amazing. It is such a shame - a sad loss to music. It was crazy when the news broke just before our flight to Hong Kong for the Barclays Asia Trophy. It is a shame when anyone dies but especially a special talent in their particular field. People always say the really special ones go early. It was the case with Amy. On the Darren Bent playlist at the moment while we're talking about music, I'm listening to the Kanye West/Jay-Z album 'Watch the Throne.' I'm also listening to a bit of soul and 80s groove. Hug it out! If you're big into TV series, you'll know what I'm talking about. I am a big Entourage fan. I watch it all the time. I have seen all the seasons. It's unbelievable. I love Ari Gold - he's my favourite, he's brilliant. I just love the character - the energy and the classic phrases. He's hilarious. I love Johnny Drama too. People go on about Vincent Chase, his brother, being the main character but the ones like Johnny, Ari and Turtle seem to becoming more popular now. Ari's the best - with Johnny not far behind. I'm watching Entourage loads at the moment but my favourites ever would be 24 or Lost. I was hooked on Lost. It took eight years of my life! I loved that programme. It was crazy! There were some weird plotlines. Even though I've seen the ending, I still don't know what's going on. I loved that. Just to let everyone know, I've finally got over the disappointment of losing to Gards in the FIFA 12 player tournament over in Hong Kong. Saying that, I don't want to make excuses because I don't like them but I never play FIFA on PlayStation. I'm an Xbox man. I haven't played on the PlayStation for about seven years! But I'll take the defeat on the chin. He played well, he beat me but if we'd been playing on the Xbox, trust me, it would have been a very different story! I am looking forward to FIFA 12 coming out properly in the next few months. It looked superb. To be honest, I'm one of these guys who gets a new version and says 'this is horrendous, I can't play it, I prefer the old version' but then I will continue to play it and by the end I'll absolutely love it. By the time I'm totally into it, it's time to change again. I will definitely get it when it comes out. I thought I'd finish off the blog with something that gave me a real thrill the other week. Being chosen to captain Villa against Derby was a massive moment. It is always nice to lead the team and skipper any side but to be captain of a huge club like Villa was incredible. Even though it was just a pre-season friendly it was still a true honour. I got to feel the buzz that Stan gets to experience every week. Hopefully I will get a chance to be captain again sometime in the future. I'd love that. If the opportunity came up in the future, I'd jump at the chance. I was full-time captain at Charlton for seven months and I loved every minute of it. People always ask players 'what sort of skipper are you?' I am a 'lead by example' captain. I am a not a shouter. There's no point bawling at everyone. Stan's a brilliant captain. He talks to the younger lads and he talks to the older pros. He's superb. He's a really, really good captain. Villa have had some superb captains over the years. Looking back, Villa have had Olof Mellberg, Gareth Barry, Gareth Southgate, European Cup skipper Dennis Mortimer and Johnny Dixon who lifted the FA Cup. If the chance came around again, even for one game like Derby, I'd be delighted. To captain this great football club was amazing! Watch out for my blog next week where I talk about all things James Bond! Keywords
