A central defender by trade, Watkins-Clark made his second string debut in the right-back role in the final regular Barclays Premier Reserve League fixture at Fulham. He also started in the final two U18 games of the campaign - a 4-0 win over Portsmouth and a 2-2 draw against Tottenham Hotspur. Earlier in the season he featured in defeats against Cardiff City and Leicester City. The Bedford-born stopper has shown a great deal of determination to overcome injury problems since joining Villa from Ipswich Town as an U14.
