Mason Watkins-Clark

Mason Watkins-Clark

Mason Watkins-Clark had to be patient during the 2011-12 campaign.

But the young defender got the chance to impress for the club's reserve and youth sides in the second half of the campaign.

A central defender by trade, Watkins-Clark made his second string debut in the right-back role in the final regular Barclays Premier Reserve League fixture at Fulham.

He also started in the final two U18 games of the campaign - a 4-0 win over Portsmouth and a 2-2 draw against Tottenham Hotspur.

Earlier in the season he featured in defeats against Cardiff City and Leicester City.

The Bedford-born stopper has shown a great deal of determination to overcome injury problems since joining Villa from Ipswich Town as an U14.

Watkins-Clark, who is strong in the air and a good tackler, is a big admirer of Portugal central defender David Luiz.
