Bradley Lewis

Bradley Lewis

Bradley Lewis is a central defender by trade - but has often proved to be a useful attacking option during his time in the academy ranks.

In fact he scored one of the most important goals in Villa's 2012-13 NextGen Series triumph - a header in the 2-1 win at Ajax in the last 16.

Lewis also established himself as a regular in the centre of defence for Tony McAndrew's U18 side last term.

The Dudley-born stopper scored four times in the Barclays Premier Academy League during the first year of his academy scholarship.

His first goal of the campaign came in December 2011 as Villa defeated Cardiff City 2-1 at Bodymoor Heath.

In January, he was on target again in a 4-0 victory over Birmingham City at Wast Hills.

His impressive scoring run continued into February when he converted a brilliant looping header in a 2-2 draw against Reading, while Lewis followed that up with another headed effort as Villa won 3-1 against Norwich City a week later.

As well as featuring in the FA Youth Cup third round clash at Brighton, Lewis was handed a start against Marseille in the NextGen Series quarter-final at Villa Park.

Lewis has also represented Villa at the last two Hong Kong International Soccer Sevens tournaments, helping them reach the final in 2012.
